Ross received an undergraduate degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
Upon graduation, he lived for a year in Japan, documenting the culture and building a photography portfolio. Since then, Ross has worked as a freelance photographer, taking him to several countries in Africa, India, and a U.S. Marine boot camp. He has worked as a photographer for The University of Virginia, Geneva Global, Children's Relief International, and World Magazine.
In 2007/2008, Ross directed a five-month photography workshop called The Generations Project, that paired high school students with senior citizens in nursing homes.
Currently, Ross is working on a project titled, Stories from the Garden, that combines photography and audio documentary. It will exhibit in June 2008 in conjunction with Festival of the Photograph.
Ross is also a recipient of a 2008 National Geographic Young Explorers Grant that will help fund an extensive, year-long project documenting America's small, bizarre, and hidden festivals.
Ross is available for freelance projects.
